One Room at a time

As I mentioned in the last post, I have been in Arizona...cleaning. It was great to see Brian and Tiffany get everything ready to move, we didn't quite finish the house while I was there, but Tiff's mom is coming over to help finish up on Monday...if there is anything left to do. I was working with the energizer bunny over there. I would work all day with Tiffany, and then go to bed, just beat. I would wake up in the morning, and another room would be torn apart, decorations washed and packed. I think she worked two days for my everyone one.

Coming home has been an eye opener... wall and woodwork need washing...I don't remember them looking like this when I left...but no one was home while I was gone, so unless we had burglers...we are not as clean and neat as I thought we were.

So I decided to clean, one room at a time, just like we did at Tiff and Brian's... first the laundry room. Now my laundry room is also A.J.'s room, so it is important to keep it clean. We do laundry around nap time and bed time around here. Anyway, I scrubbed the floor, took decorations off the shelves, washed them, and the shelves, re-arranged the stuff (perhaps I will start calling it junk that collects dust!), cleaned all of the cabinet fronts, door, base boards, window, and yes, Tiffany, I even cleaned the walls (inside joke).

Here is what I learned:
1. If you put bar-towels under your feet you can scoot around on the floor to mop up any left over moisture after you scrub on your hands and knees.
2. A room is not cleaned until you wash the walls.
3. More dust can live under a washer, dryer and refrigerator than we generate in 6 months in the entire rest of the house (does that mean I should do it more often that once every 6 months...no!!)
4. It is more fun to clean, paint, etc. with a daughter than by yourself.
5. I have too much junk in my house.
6. If you mop the floor in bare feet for several days in a row your feet become clean, even if you constantly go barefoot outside, step in those sticky rat traps and through the dirt, and try to clean them every night with a scrub brush. Yahoo
7. I love my family and had a great time in Arizona...thanks for the Cafe Rio break!!
